Hot starting problems
Car is 71 bird with 400, once its hot starter barely turns it over. I have replaced both cables (stock autozones), battery (everstart 850cca) new mini-starter, 100 amp alternator & wrapped the headers near the starter, its a little better, but not much. I have electric fans & installed a kill switch to turn them off when I want to start, so I am not pulling current away from the starter. Don't think I should need 2 batteries? Any advice?

What's the CR and the timing set to? Even my 9.2:CR likes to kick back against the
starter after a brief hot soak. Most times I just let go of the key and hit it again. If its really being an ornery about it, dialing back the timing (MSD timing control) makes it spin easily. |
I bought an MSD 6 box that retards timing while cranking the engine. Used it on a 68 YE engine with great results. Starts very easy with lower compression heads.
