A/C 64/65
 

I posted this request in another forum but didn't get what I needed. So we'll try here. I would like pictures of the fire wall a/c unit under the hood .I am mostly interested with the wiring to the blower motor and what I think is the fan speed control resistor. I have never worked on an A/C car of this vintage and this cars wiring has been hacked, taped and what I would think is an added relay so I would like pictures of an original . Thank you Don

I took these pictures of a '64 in the POCI show field at Dayton. A very nice car. I'm trying to rebuild my A/C from basket case status, so I took lots of pics. Let me know if there's something you didn't see.

Ron thanks for the pictures wow there is a lot I didn't see on the car. I'll see the car again sat for a home coming parade I'll take some pictures of the mess that's there . I put a new tail light harness in it today that was all hacked up. this is a chevelle but I am assuming the a/c unit blower, ect would be the same. Thanks Don

Your information was extremely beneficial in the work that I was doing on my 64 at the time, but now I need to find out where the window washer fluid bottle would be located. Any thoughts?

Here are pictures of the washer bottle in my 64 AC convertible. The bracket is unique to AC applications, mounting bracket is angled, may have an extra is you need one.

Hi, not trying to hijack this thread, but I have an A/C question. There is an older aftermarket A/C set up on our 65 tempest. Under dash unit. Anyway when they installed it they ran the hoses under the hood very sloppy, laying on the valvecovers and rubbing the mounting brackets. I want to re-route the hoses but to do so I need longer hoses. What are they ? specisl hoses just for A/C or just heater hoses ? They are held on the A/c pump with hose clamps on a barbed fitting.

I know very crappy looking in there, We are in the process of re-doing almost everything, heater hoses, A/C hoses, battery cables. Luckly they did not butcher up the wireing or remove any of the origional brackets for everything. Thanks for any help on the A/c hose question, Craig.

Hey guys, I need some help. My left rear brake light has stopped working for some reason. The tail light works. The turn signal works, but no brake light. I thought I might be related to the cancelling cam that I replaced, but I can't find anything. It appears that it is missing a ground, which is not uncommon, but I can't locate it. I've traced the harness and have not power for the brake light. Does anyone have any thoughts?

First you should post this in the electrical section and start a new thread, but since it it here and you asked...
The most common cause of what you are describing is a bad contact in the turn switch. Try moving the turn lever slightly off of dead center while stepping on the brakes and see if the missing brake light comes on. Since you say you recently replaced the canceling cam, I'd go back in and double check your work there using a wiring diagram, a test light and or a continuity meter. Can probably be repaired by re-tensioning the brass contacts and or cleaning with crocus cloth and contact oil.

You too in the future should start your own thread. You may get more answers that way. Since you asked, the A/C hose is different than the heater hose. You can buy it at any large auto parts store. New stuf has a plastic liner to seal in the smaller R134 molecuels.

Thanks for the response. Sorry for the mis-posting, but I'm new to this format. I tried your suggestion about moving the turn signal, but it didn't work. I guess I will have to disassemble it all. Thanks again.

best place to look. you might try testing the wires at the connector b4 you pull it all apart. There is one wire taking brake light current up the column when the pedal is depressed, and that voltage should come back down to the connector on both rear turn/stop wires. If it is only one the the trouble is up the column or in the switch.
I can probably tell you what colors the wires are if you don't have a manual.

Bob that bracket looks like the 65 washer bottle bracket. It's angled to fit the angle of the 65 core support
