Heater surge check valve-Which one is correct ?

See link above... I have different kind of surge/check valve I bought off a fellow PY forum member. It installs in-line from the water pump to the core inlet.

This one on EBay is on the RH head. Is one better than the other ? I would think one is on one side of T-Stat than the other...no ? In other words one would be on inlet and RH head is outlet (is RH outlet ?), so how could it prevent a surge on the outlet side...?

1) nipple from head to inlet w/ check vale

2) In-line restrictor per mod in Restoration Guide

3) Crimping the inlet

I'm confused....LOL

There isn't a "best".......It's a matter of hydraulics.....There will always be a pressure drop when there is flow past a restriction or orifice......

Whether the restriction is the cylinder head nipple, in-line restriction/orifice, or "crimping" the inlet.....doesn't really matter.....
