Front and rear shocks
 

I have a 1970 Lemans Sport Coupe. I cut the front springs 2 inches and replaced the rear springs with a 2 inch drop. I am on a budget. What is a good shock to use for both front and rear?

We are too. What did you use to cut the springs?

For shocks, you can go any route really. From pep Boys specials to KYB gas shocks. Remember that they will provide the best road feel for the money. I wouldn't go too cheap on the type of shocks.

My brother and I measured and cut the springs with a roto zip metal cutting blade. It worked very well.

I would go with a set of Bilstein gas shocks, cost is around $300 for the set. I bought my set from Summit Racing, their prices are pretty competitive.

The KYBs are very stiff riding, I've run them on several cars. They are no longer priced low enough to be considered a good 'bargain' performance shock in my opinion.

Pep Boys specials or any other type bottom-of-the-line shocks really aren't worth buying.

Ditto what B-man said. Cheap shocks get you just that, and KYBs are really stiff and no longer a good budget shock, with much better, higher quality stuff out there for just a few bucks more...

monroes are decent shocks as well, but i would NOT get them for your application; a lowered car.

the sensatracks are designed to operate at the factory ( or darn close to it ) ride height and piston range of travel. lowering the car moves the piston out of its intended range, thus pretty much defeating its purpose/value.

How about the Edelbrocks?...comparable to the Bilsteins?

I have KYB's at all 4 corners and it is very rough riding....I am sure my 17" wheels
and low profile tires dont help either.
