Emergency Battery Cut-off

Last time I was at the track the tech guy said because my batt was moved to the trunk I needed and emergency battery cutoff accessable from the outside of the car. So I bought an extra taillight to drill through and I'll mount the switch inside with a pull rod out the back.
My question is should the switch be in the + or - cable?

The rule book says it is to be on the positive side.

You will need to run a #6 cable to one side of the switch the other end to your alternator.so it kills the car. That if you run a alternator.

And the OFF position is pushed in on the rod.
