A job you enjoy?

If the salary really didn't matter, what job would you choose for a career?

Something you'd really enjoy doing 5 days a week.

I'd work in the shop being a helper/learning various trades at Hendrick Motorsports.

If salary didn't matter, I'd still do what I do... I'd just do it a little slower.;)

BTW, I'm a self-employed residential building contractor.:usa2:

Building anything. In metal or wood.

I'd gladly go back to the railroad. Being an engineer was my dream throughout childhood, and I actually got to do it for about a year.

Nothing like 13,500 horsepower at your fingertips, fighting a bucking, heaving 7,000 ton train down a mountain.

I kind of like this unemployment gig right now. Pay isn't all that bad.

Hmmm, wiring tube amplifiers on rainy days, rebuilding TH400s with R&R on warm dry days, then when evening comes, discussing the Gospel in bars, with beef&beer.

Seriously though, as a mechanical engineer and a former combat engineer, I'd like a job designing weapons of some sort.

That, or Jessica Alba's pool boy would be fine by me. But she'd probably have to release the restraining order first.

I wouldn't mind doing what I do now- telephone repairman. Always moving around, no real stress, hardly ever see the boss and I'm always working with my hands.

Bjorn 11-16-2010 09:50 AM

If I ran out of customers to design homes for I wouldnt mind being a brothel inspector

I really think my most happy times and challenging were back when I ran my Classic car repair buisness. It was word of mouth advertisiting. I also remember how proud my mentor was when I completed someone's project and got it running. I built mainly Pontiac's and lots of GTO's. I fixed them all. Over that time I did several other brands. My fortie into Buicks was fun. I owned 3 Grand Sports. I built 2 of them and both were really fun. The GS 350 is still my Favorite. With the swaybars and new bushings I could go around corners like a slot car. I built a Ford Cobrajet 428 car. It was the most challenging of them all. It took days to install the engine and the headers.

If I could go back to doing that and the thrill of hunting down the parts and building the cars. I would in a heartbeat. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll do it again. All I need is a pole barn, concret floor and tools!
