Bolt Removal - Wilwood Hub
1 Attachment(s)
Ok all need to see if I am missing something here. Pic attached By The Way. This is a Wildwood HUB from a 67 Firebird. I am in the middle of brake and suspension rebuild. The Star Drive bolt in the picture simply will not come out. I have tried everything. Impact Wrench, large wrench with a with a huge breaker bar, everything. Tried reverse thread, everything.
There are 8 or so of these and non of them have even budged. Any Advise???? Thanks |
Maybe call Wilwood and ask them what they're glued with? Maybe heat? If you've tried the old-school hand-held impact driver that you beat on while it twists...I don't know.

Perhaps some green Loctite 640 high heat retaining compound was used to assemble them. You may need to carefully apply some heat with a torch for removal.

Why would you want to take it apart? If you need a rotor, send the whole thing to Wilwood for service. They are fairly inexpensive, have quick turn-arounds, and you'll be sure you don't have the thing come apart on you when you don't want it to.
And those are called torx screws, fyi. . |
