62-4cyl frnt seal and lifter ???

I pulled the engine on the 62 Tempest I'm working on.

the front seal looks to be not a normal front cover type. I saw in another post
that these can be replaced with a flange type. what would be the correct size to machine the cover to accept the new style seal. And are the lifters the same as
the V-8 lifters.
oh and what pistons can I use when / if I bore it

thanks.

actually the seal is the normall seal for the pre 63 engines.Just get a seal from any other years like 67 or so and have a machine shop put it in.Lifters are the stock hyd lifters and you want 389 plus what ever over bore you get to.Tom

Details about replacing the front seal with a lip seal can be found here.

I'll loan you my alignment tool for a $50 deposit, cheerfully refunded upon return. You pay postage both ways. It's been used on nine Pontiac engines now all over the country.
