Rally II wheel interchange for JY code
 

Any idea whether or not other 5x5 Rally II wheels will fit a 1971 Grandville with front disc brakes? Been looking all over for the original JY code Rallys with no luck. Really just want a good fit, not originals.

I have used various different codes on my 70 Bonneville with disk brakes, with no issues. I'm not positive, but I think all the 5X5 15" Rally II's have the same back spacing and will fit. There are a few, hard to find 5X5 15" that are 7" wide instead of the much more common 6" wide. I think they were mostly on station wagon or trailer towing packages.

That explains a lot. I know they had ambulance and hearse applications that year as well.

Another thing to keep in mind is that not all of the 5x5, 15x6" wheels were created the same. Some had a smaller diameter center (if memory serves, they're JU code from 69-70 big cars) and they don't look the same externally when side by side with other 5x5 wheels.

This summer, I sourced 4 5x5, 15x6" Rally II's for my 74 Bonne, and I ended up with two KY and two HY code wheels. They match up nicely on all measurements, and they're listed for 73-76 big cars. No clearance issues with the big discs on my car either.

Lastly, the 5x5, 15x7" Rally II's were supposedly on 77-81 big cars, and carry the HH or KD code from what info I have.

I think the 69-70 used the large centers. Using a smaller center from a 14 inch wheel would mean 4 3/4 bolt circle, which would fit A and F body cars.

71-76 rally 2's off of a fullsize pontiac (5x5) will work on the 71. 71-2's full size rallies look a little different, more like a 1969 70 raLLy. but they will all work. drum brake fullsixe rally 2's off of 67-70 will not work for you, but 71-76 would work on 67-70 drum brake cars...

I haven't looked it up, but I think 70 switched to JY mid year. I have a bunch of different 5X5 15" and they all appear the same to me, except for 2 that don't have the 3 cut outs where the center cap goes. I don't recall the code, but I think they are later model wheels. There is also a slight ridge under the trim ring, and the ring fits slightly differently. If I didn't point it out, most people would never see any difference, because it is slight. I used them on the rear, because the only way to attach the center cap was with the plate and center screw, which would hit the bearing cap in the front.

According to the 1970 Pontiac Parts Manual I have, the 1969/1970 B body Rally Wheel is code JJ. My broadcast sheet, list the Rally II's for my 70 Bonneville as JU, so I guess that was the mid-year change. The 1968 B body Rally II wheel was 14 X6 and was code JB, and I think they were still 5X5, but in 14".
