Rear spring offset in F-body
 

Can someone explain why there is an offset in the rear springs, front bushing. The stock springbushings are both offset towards the passenger side. My new springs from Pro-touring F-body appear to be offset the other way towards the drivers side??. I have read a post on Trans am country where you can romove one of the bushings and install it so that itis in the opposite direction. The result is a slight toe in situation on the rear tires.Can anyone confirm this or tell me why this offset exists. Thanks.

hi a solid rear axle should not have toe in or out, if you have toe the rear end is bent. the front spring eyes are mounted slightly closer together than the rear, this to help center the rear under the car. i am not familiar with the offset you are describing, maybe someone else will chime inn. hope that helps. Its been a while but I know what you are talking about, outside of the bushings being inserted the same side are they not the same width/offset?

Dave's springs come from Landrum and they are stock car springs so are not concerned with a left/right difference other then spring rates maybe.

So if they are significantly offset you can see if you can center the bushings or you can move them.

In practice unless its a large difference it most likley not a big issue as the rear of the springs are rubber/shackle mounted and there is lots of compliance there to take up any sort of toe in/out issue.
