Kick panels and new carpet.

Should you remove kick panels to properly install new carpet?

GStage1 03-21-2012 10:27 PM

Yes, so carpet can be cut properly along kick panel bottom

Absolutely!

Thanks guy's that's what I thought. The driver panel is a biatch to get out!
So I had to modify my trans hump for my TKO 600 and I think I might have to cut the molded carpet to fit, I bought some yardage, can I tape the seams like house carpet or how is it done?

ERIC AULL 03-23-2012 07:25 PM

Test fit it first....sometimes they give you a little extra at each door sill. An interior guy I know sometimes cuts a "V" shape over the hump if necessary, then seems in a piece, which the console covers...I THINK he sews the seam, the other stuff should work I GUESS. Eric

No console in this car.

Like Eric says, there are a few extra inches on each side that are normally trimmed off. If you're lucky the carpet will lay decently over your modified trans hump and those extra inches will still make it to the sills.
