Lunati bracket master 292 for mild 455
Hi I have a reasonably stock 455. I just picked up a st of 6x 4 heads to replace my big chamber 4x heads (unported). I typically run 14.2s with the stock 3.08 gears in my 68 lemans. Im running a stock cam as well. I have a lunati bracket master 2 cam on the shelf. Its 292/292, 230 @ .050, and 490 lift. Im just tring to pick up a little et, and gain a rougher idle. On the same token, I dont want to over cam it? If its too much cam, I might just bolt on the 6x heads with some roller rockers, and gain some compression. Any opinions greatly appreciated.
Btw i also have a performer, a performer rpm intakes, and 2200 stall converter. |
230/230 @ .050 is low risk in you 455 goals. See 12.2 ET signature on 89 Octane. Stars, idles without fouling, sounds right, runs hard.

awesome! The 6 x heads i picked up came with screw in studs, guideplates, good valvesprings, roller rockers. I think with the stock pistons and 6x heads i will be around 9:1 cr. way better than 8 to 1. I have been researching the bracket master for a pontiac , but couldnt find too many opinions on it.

I run the bracket master II in my basically stock 30 over 400. Runs 12.7s in a 4000 pound lemans street car with mild converter and 3.73 gear. I shift at 5200 with stock rods and pistons. It has a nice thump at idle to. I have used it in two separate 400s and am happy with it.

I all so run it in my car , works well .

cool. Im happy to here this. I am planning on keeping the 3.08 gears.

I ran that cam in a 400 in a 3400lb car with 3.73 gear on pump gas and ran consistent 7.70's in the 1/8 with a best of 7.67. Has a nice sounding idle and performs pretty well.

I was running 62's with a clean up on the runners and gasket match to the Fel Pro 1233 intake gasket, Performer RPM intake and a 750 Holley double pump carb.
