'65 Power Windows...
 

How hard is it to convert a '65 GTO from crank to power windows? :confused:

I used the kit from NuRelics to install power windows in my 64 GTO. They worked well. The installation was not too complicated but plan on at least a day to do it.

I did find that if you replace all the seals at the same time that you need to lubricate them or the drag is too much on the glass.

I converted my manual windows to power windows in my 72 Cutlass. I installed all used factory stuff from a 71 Monte Carlo. I wanted it to look factory and it took me 3 days to do it all. To drill out the door jambs and doors for the wiring boots or conduits both front fenders (bumper etc.) had to be removed, the doors had to be removed, the front seats, console, back seat, and side panels & carpeting needed to be removed. The lower A/C ducts needed to be removed. I ran EVERY wire, fitting & clip in the factory locations. I'm anal retentive about keeping everything looking as if it was factory installed. I did all of this by myself without any help so that did slow me down a lot.

I have installed factory power windows on many of my cars and trucks in the past. Not a bad job. If you remove all of the necessary items, just mark them well and take photos of the harness routing. :)

Where do the switches go, in the holes left by the window chrak shafts? :confused:

That's what I did when I did mine.

Came out OK.

Most of the cars I installed power windows on that is where the factory also had the switches.:)

Personally I would go with something like this. Definately more money but a lot less headaches in the long run.
