Trans leaks at speedo cable outlet.
A friend of mine has a 68 Tempest with its original drive train . He discovered that the transmission is leaking from the driver's side where the speedo cable exits the body of the trans.
Is there a common and easy fix for this? TIA |
Replacing the O rings should do it.
Inner ring seals around the shaft of the driven gear. Outer ring seals the housing to the case. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/TH350-Speedo-...bWQ~~60_35.JPG |
Thanks for the quick response.

If it has the original soft metal housing, seals won't fix it. The center hole gets
wallowed out and it leaks. I f it does have the old unit replace it with a hard steel one like in the picture on the previous post along with new seals. |
OK thanks! I'll let him know.
