Vibratory cleaner
 

I just got a vibratory cleaner to reclaim some old hardware - uses the green pyramids as media. After a few loads of hardware it seems to be leaving a sticky film on the parts.

Should this media be cleaned somehow?

yes.what are you using for solution? and what are you tumbling...

In a former life working at a machine shop, we put hot water and Dawn in the vibratory deburr tubs and changed out with every load. The Dawn not only degreases the parts but helps prolong the life of the media as well.

Its a dry tumbler. Using green "pyramid" beads. I think they contain some sort of resin.

Cleaning up rusty (not greasy) bolts and nuts.

i use one all the time..same type...same pyramids..you have to use some kind of solution if you want it to last...its lubrication..i use enuogh that it starts to make bubbles on the edges

For rust, just simple white vinegar..when ya pull it out wipe it off immediately and it will not rust for some time

dirt, i use dawn and water

wickedly covered stuff..CLR..its amazing

after 3 or 4 times, i wash it all with water and a little dawn..

I read the HF tumbler will shake itself apart eventually and you need to take it apart and use a little Loc-Tite in the fasteners.

When it comes to rusty parts, I prefer to either hit them with the sand blaster or use this stuff. It is amazing.

They also sell evaporust at Harbor Freight. I think it is a little cheeper there. That is if you have a Harbor Freight close by.
