73 455 Oil dipstick tube height coming out of block.
 

I replaced a rusted and missing oil dipstick tube coming out of the block with a stainless one. Does anyone know the exact height or length of the small tube that comes out of the block? Thanks chaz069

I just installed mine and when u install the tube the inside end sits flush with the lip of the block webbing....or slightly below

First, thanks for the info. my 455 had a rusted tube coming out of the block , and I used a stainless tube acquired from a local tubing company to replace it. Are all block tubes the same length? I have an A/C car with an extension tube and longer oil dipstick. When they duplicated the tube, we were not sure what the actual length was and guessed. Thanks chaz069

Hmm that I dont know...maybe check the py parts catalogue and see if the lowers are different...
My car is no a/c and I'm running a windage tray as well....Chris

From what I remember. the internal dimentions of the LOWER tube depends on whether or not you have a windage tray. If you have a try, the try locates the lower tube. No tray, the lower tube bolts to a bearing cap via a bracket attached to the lower tube. Either way the lower tube looks the same OUTSIDE of the block. If you have air, there is an extention tube that fits into the lower tube, but the lower tube still looks the same outside of the block.

The lower tube installs from inside the block with the oil pan off, so I'm curious how you are fabbing a new lower tube. I'm assuming this is being done with the engine in car, and oil pan on?

The length of the tube that presses in the block are all the same length from 1969 to 1979 and they might be the same pre-69. I'm not sure on that.
