Laptop Charging ?
With the charger plugged in it says (plugged in not charging). It will charge once in a while. The battery holds the charge and doesn't die fast. Would this be a bad charger?
Thanks, Eric |
I had a brand new cable that came with my phone that did similar. I would try another or get a new cable before I did anything else. First rule of troubleshooting - try the easiest and least expensive things first.
My son had a PC laptop that did this also, and we later found that the fine cable about an inch form where it plus into the machine had broken inside the insulation. Too much bending at that location. It can do damage to the device if not repaired. |
If its a new laptop the machine is "conditioning" the battery for long life. Mine will charge the battery to 75% and will only top it off once a month or so.

Thanks, it's about 5 or 6 years old. I will look into getting a new charging cord.

i had the same problem and an IT friend of mine told me to unplug the laptop and then turn it off. Remove the battery and then hold down the power button for about ten seconds to drain remaining power. Reinstall the battery and power up the laptop. It worked for me. Good luck.
