What is the correct 4 barrel carb on a 66 GTO 389
Looking for the correct 4 barrel carb on a 66 GTO. Holley, rochester, Carter????

On a 1966 GTO
X2 on the Carter AFB.
In '66 the OHC 6 with Sprint/Sports package was the only model to get the all new Q-Jet. GTO didn't see it until '67 |

Thanks, for the quick reply. Mine has the Carter AFB so I guess I have the correct carb. I'm new to Pontiacs and GTO's. Just curious Here is a picture of my car Where would the carb number be located?

Nice car! And welcome.
The '66 guys will weigh-in, but the carb should have either a metal tag on the right rear under the air horn (drivers side) or a stamp on the left front of the throttle body near the idle screws (possibly both stamp and tag). Should be 3-4 digits followed by an "S" if it's a Pontiac AFB. |
