71 License Plate Lamp Question

The wiring diagram in the 71 manual shows a ground lead off of the housing and grounded to the metal trunk tail panel.
Is this grounding lead supposed to be permanently attached to the lamp housing or is it attached by way of a the screws that secure the lamp housing to the tail panel?
The lamp works once I attached a ground lead to the base of the housing but I wanted to try and replicate the correct method of grounding.

Thanks in advanced
Larry

The originals didn't have that "hoop" in the top as these do, But they should function just fine. Glad its being made, for sure.

I used this original in pic below removed from my 70 as a pattern and car had not been hit in rear or anything. Perhaps there were slightly different versions 70-73? Anyone have a pic of one that looks different?

All the ones I have removed look like Craigs above ( Norwood) 70-73

Thanks guys! Be easier to make them like the one in Craig's pic. Certainly not a high demand item but I had requests on other forums so I added them to the things I make.

I was going to do them. Cancel that one

Here is a shot of my '73's.

What are the proper screws supposed to look like for mounting the light? When I look up the P/N 9420372 it has a very large washer attached to the head.
