Dominator HP Problems.
 

I put on my Dominator HP and filled the bowls and it looks like its leaking fuel from the primary throttle blade shaft. WTF. This carb has hardly any time on it.

2Sounds like the primary N&S assembly is not sealing. Is there fuel dripping out the boosters?

I Didn't see any. I did not hit the throttle to prime it.

I'm not sure what N&S is Paul?

John, Needle and seat N&S is where you adjust the height of the float bowl. When its not sealing it usually puts fuel on the vent tubes.

I knew that I'm still sleeping. LOL

Just checked it again both bowls are full of fuel. I wrapped a rag around both fuel lines and turn the pump on. It is definitely coming from the throttle shaft.

That's the size of the oring for the throttle shaft Darby?

Sorry John, No for the needle,, Not sure how your getting fuel around the throttle shafts?

Pull out one of the lower fuel bowl screws to drain it out, catch that fuel then pull out the sight plug and pour that fuel carefully back into the fuel bowl vent until it's fills up that bowl until just below the sight plug, do you still see fuel coming out the throttle shaft?
By the way fuel seen coming out the shaft ends is coming from some where else.

Thanks John! That was sunday at TNT before Drag week. I dunno y u are getting gas around the throttle plates, Did u fill the bowls and look down inside the venturis? Sure its not coming out of the boosters?

Nothing coming out of the boosters. -008 O rings are 3/16 id and 5/16 od?

Once in a while you see an issue with the float level because the carb is on a funny angle due to engine installation. Dominator carbs have both sight plug holes in exactly the same spot
height wise whereas the older 3310 type carbs would have one sight hole higher vs the other one due to the engine angle and carb pad angle.

But the fix many times is just set the fuel level in the bowl so that when you bump the car with your hip the fuel slosh just barely dribbles out the float bowl hole.

Many set the fuel level higher in error.

That "bump trick" is prolly older than I am. Question is how did the floats get out of adjustment ?

I have been using that trick since the early 60s on Holleys, to check fuel level.
Had a SB Chebby before my 64 GTO.

Many times the dry setting I do (by eye) with the bowl turned upside down is spot on the money.
No paper measurement strips like a Rochester 2 BBL deal required.
Don't even do the bump test many times anymore.

That's a good question Ron.

Pull the bowls off and check the floats. Make sure they're not fuel soaked, cracked or collapsed. Look for contamination inside the bowls.
