I'm looking for good quality side mirrors
I'm looking for good quality side mirrors. The ones I currently have will not stay they're just floppy as hell. and suggestions?

Is there no way to get the glass out and tighten up the swivel ?

I have the same problem. All the reproduction side and rearview mirrors have the problem. If possible, try a small dab of blue loctite in the swivel. Otherwise, you will just have to rebuy them over and over.

On the OEM mirrors I though it was possible to remove the mirror glass and there was an adjustable tension mechanism inside.
On the old bullet aftermarket mirrors there was often a screw in the end of the cone, attached to a tension spring, you'd tighten that screw to adjust it. Seems like I've also seen them with a tension screw in the base, that you can see without removing the mirror. Might also be able to move the mirror far out of place, take a center punch and dimple the ball a little bit ... but eventually that would probably wear out. On that car you might need to weld them in place :) |

I guess i'll try and epoxy / glue them some how.

If they absolutely have to stay in the same place all the time ... yeah, epoxy or a bit of silicon bronze weld. Or maybe they can be drilled through with a small bit and pinned with a split pin.

or take the regular mirror off the car, place it face down and carefully hammer a spike at 120 degree intervals where the swiveling part meets the ball. Does the trick! |
Shoot it with a small caliber rifle and it will be harder to move.
