Column shift 73 Formula
 

We are getting ready to jump into the restoration of the steering column for the Formula.
With this being a column shift car, how difficult will it be to find replacement pieces if needed?

I have one if you need it. $50.00 plus shipping , which could be 80 bucks.

As soon as I collect all of the parts I need to convert, mine will be chucked too.

So life has gotten in the way and it's taking me longer to get things moving than hoped for, again.

We pulled the column all the way down, cleaned and greased bearings and ordered pieces as needed. The column has been painted and things are going back together.

What I have figured out to this point 1) someone has been in this column previously, 2) that same someone should be slapped for throwing out pieces 3) ignition lock cylinders seem to be different on column shift cars

Monday I'll be sourcing a lock plate to replace one that is missing along with a broken buzzer contact. Ill also be searching for the correct ognition lock.

It looks really nice.

I am curious to know what is different with the lock cylinders. I have installed several in both column and floor shift columns, and they were all the same 1970-up. 1969 used a much smaller cylinder.

Per the partsbook, they are all the same regardless of shifter location.

Love those oddities like a column shift muscle car. Im a little bias though ;)

I've posted a picture of the original and replacement cylinders. The replacement has a shoulder that is preventing the cylinder to seat into the column properly.

Thanks for questioning my post. I went back and second guessed myself after your statement.

I had the lock plate peg gear one tooth off. Once that was repositioned, the cylinder dropped in and operated correctly.

Now to order a replacement buzzer spring and a lock plate and this part will be done.
