Gutsram advice

Building a 500” Kauffman high port engine. Pretty big roller cam, 12:5 compression, 400 cfm heads. Most likely will run my old 850s or maybe new 1050s on the Gutsram.
Besides matching the ports any other advice on getting the most out of the manifold?

Open up the run entrance at plenum as much as you can. The divide wall can be thinned quie a bit. Personally i don't like the peak in the plenum floor, i'd remove it and make floor flat. Other than that there isn't much that can be done. You can't make the runners at the plenum big enough and you can't make the plenum big enough. But it'll still make big power and due to things being small it'll accelerate nice in the car.

An engine like that will probably benefit from a spacer underneath the manifold top to increase plenum volume.

X2 I made a delrin spacer for the Gutsram I tried and it picked up .09 in the 1/4 in back to back test over no spacer and just the flat top. Still did not run as fast as the original TR, but I am running a baby engine.
What I have found with both intakes on my engine is they both like shear plates.

We had a hand-me-down sheetmetal tunnel ram on the Grocery Getter and it was notorious for stalling at the end of a big burnout. It had a pretty big plenum.

We switched to the Gutsram and problem solved.

So I guess my general thought is to use spacers or something like that (not permanent) so you can try different plenum volumes till it's optimized.

FWIW,
Eric

Look at mine, it isn't finished but shows how the center divider can be thinned (maybe don't go quite that much).
