Got a picture? All the housing ends on a Ford 9" that I've seen were welded onto the axle tubes. The outer axle bearing fits into those ends, and then a bolt-on retainer holds the outer bearing and backing plate on.
A good driveline shop or rear end builder should be able to cut the weld, remove the end and then weld a new end on. Don't just cut it at the weld, the tube extends into the housing end. Verify they have a jig or a way to make sure the new housing end is clocked and spaced properly prior to welding.
