66 GTO hood bump stops
 

Can someone tell me if on the core support there is a nut welded in the hole for this hood stop stud or is it a push in speed nut like the one pictured? I am thinking I may have a aftermarket support because I only have a hole and no sign of broken welds. 66 GTO

I do know what they look like and where they go. I need to know if what they go into has a welded in nut or if it has a clip sort of like the pic. I posted. My hole is just a hole without a thread to screw these into.

I wish I could help you, but my car is a 67 and it is locked up in a building at our local Fair Grounds for a car show. I can look tomorrow morning and report back tomorrow evening if no one else chimes in. I am pretty sure it is a welded nut.

I'm thinking you may be right but please let me know for sure though. You wouldn't happen to be at the Spokane Washington show by any chance?

Just checked two supports, at a glance the underside
looks like a common nut with no weld to be seen. But
there's a circular parting line on the topside, so the nut
appears to be a weld nut?

No, I am in Leesburg, Georgia. And, the nut is definitely welded to the underside of the core support. I can't get a picture of it, but I was able to run my hand up under and feel it. There was no cage around it, just the nut. There is a jam nut on the threaded hood bumper that tightens it up once adjusted.

Oh well. I installed riv nuts yesterday. That's what you do when some idiot don't weld a nut on backside.
