IMHO, the rear case is not correct for ( 69) 1970. Just an observation as an enthusiast.

I agree. The cooling slots look different.

It's a rebuilt unit that is missing the correct diamond 1 year only back

I think that's rather common with these early internally regulated units - and probably why each half demands as much as they do.

I currently have that style back end on my alternator - the bolt boss on the back of my original rear case was damaged, and I swapped it because I was worried about proper bolt grip... I really should reunite correct haves together.

What common in the 903 alternator? Im.confused by what you said.

Why do you find the backs swapped out of the '70 Firebird alternators? Ask the '69 Corvette guys...

Definitely not correct. Should have raised fin with boss at 4 o’clock position
