Correct Air Cleaner painting
Hey guys,
I recently picked up a rare 67 326 HO air cleaner that needs restored. What’s the best to use on it since it is in a high heat area? Also what sheen should it be, semi gloss? Thanks Joe |
I would say SEMI Gloss for sure.
Most OE Breathers don't seem/appear Glossy. I use both Dupli-Color Engine Paint and/or VHT FLAMEPROOF High Temp Paints for engine bay items. |

Do you know if anyone is recreating the information stamped on the side? |
Air cleaners are usually 90% gloss black. Rattle can gloss black will get you pretty close. VHT makes a great paint.

Here’s a good example of factory air cleaner paint.
Semigloss not at all, 90% or maybe gloss black. https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=873080 |

These are California 326HO Air cleaners. The cleaner one is towards the glossy side.

Good Info;
Thanks, Guys for the clarity/correction. I've not had any OE-painted Breathers in Years.
