Caution - 66-70 POR 15 Engine Paint
If you are considering an engine paint or repaint, think twice before ordering the POR 15 metallic blue engine paint kit, it is GREEN not blue!
I opened the can and closed it back up. I will be contacting POR15 to get their feedback. |
I think InlineTube and Ames are the only ones left with a correct shade.
Not sure if they sell pints/quarts - but you can check online. |
What about using POR for a base coat and then top it with the ames product?
Isn't the ames product by eastwood? |
Pretty sure Ames gets it from InlineTube , or same supplier.
They had a formula made to their specs for it , and other years. Not just regular production shelf products that have a take it or leave it color result. |
I'd put a dab on something and see what color it dries to.
|
Was it like Johnson outboard green and 68 buick ? Is nice if so.
|
Caution if using POR15, if you spill antifreeze on POR15 engine plant it will stain the paint. Did a small block a while ago, about a year after the painting
I blew a rad hose clamp and popped off the top hose at t. stat housing, green antifreeze all over engine. Washed it off within ten minutes but it had stained a lighter shade. Was not happy. Although it does cover nicely and looked good until the antifreeze issue. Not a Pontiac colour though. |
Does Ames/Inline Tube have an actual accurate GM Corporate Blue for mid to late 70's engines?

Inline has all colors matched from 59-81 12oz cans @ $10 each. Custom mixed house brand - not store shelf stuff. Ames only shows Dupli-Color brand for 66-70 It is too blue , many discussions regarding matching 66-70 Silver Blue in the past. https://www.inlinetube.com/products/inl15375 Here is a list for Ames house brands 10 oz @ $19 each https://www.amesperf.com/parts/searc...m=Engine+paint |
