Rally 2 wheel code confusion
2 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to understand a wheel code. I have a 67 gto with factory disk brakes and currently rally 1 wheels. My restoration manual states Rally 2 wheels were an option and should be wheel code JA.
On the inside of this wheel, it has the code JK, but on the outside JA. Which one is the correct code? Why the two different codes? And yes, those pictures are the same wheel. |
Does it have other stampings around the valve stem hole on the outside?
Usually the 'JK' on the inside of the wheel is for the flat part of the wheel . |

The only code on the outside is "JA" near the valve stem hole (picture attached) |
JA is the wheel ID code.
-Big letter JA or big letter JC were stamped through '67 production up into mid May of '68 when small letter wheel ID codes & external date codes began. The big letter code can be stamped left or right of the valve stem. -The JK stamped next to the wheel size on the spine of the wheel is the ASAE code for the design of the outer wheel (hoop) design. This will be either JJ or JK for a steel wheel. Useage: JA (big letter) '67-68 A-body w disc brakes JA (small letter & external dates): very late '68 model A-body disc useage, as well as ALL '69 A-body w drum OR disc brakes. |
I saw an article in a POCI mag, they listed all the codes and years and caps for the Rally’s and disco flakes, I got it somewhere.

It’s been posted on here before, I have 40 boxes of flooring in front of my stash cabinet, it’ll be a bit before I can get to the magazines.

Here's a forum post linking to an external list, but not to the table/article you described:
