OHC-6 Valve seals
 

Has anyone replaced valve seals on on this engine. Need advice on where to get the seals and how to install them. I was a auto tech from 1968 to 2016 and never worked on this type of engine. its probably no different than a overhead valve engine so advice would help.

Step one: Remove the cam. :cool:

VINTON SEALS ARE IMO A MUST.
The intake valves are all that's needed, but some do both.

If you're going deeper than just seals, do your homework on the valve specs.

Actually, you can slip the belt off of the cam pulley & unbolt the cam without too much commotion. Then valve seals would be pretty much the same as any other OHV. You will need a new cam tower gasket & then cam timing is critical, of course. Just make sure that you index the crank ahead of time & get the cam & dist drive where they belong. For me, the hard part would be doing the seals!

Thank you all for your advice the factory manual doesn’t show any of what you all suggested it seems like more work than I expected seems like at my age of 77 the whole days work if I’m lucky. The cars smoke a lot when first started then seems to get better as you drive typically valve seals act that way again thank you all

sloppy valve guides will also create this cold start smoke
