66 Grand prix wiper blades

Hi Pontiac People
I need help to find wiper blades for my 66 GP. I have looked everwhere, no luck?
Allan

Maybe Rock Auto?

I just looked in the Ames catalog. I see they don't have a listing for 65-66 GP's specifically. They also have a note: except GP. What is different on a GP those years with the wipers than a Catalina, Executive, Star Chief, Bonneville, Ventura? I would think all B body wipers would be the same in 65-66 other than possibly convertibles?

Rock Auto does show a 15" Trico Classic blade that physically looks correct if the length is correct. about $25.00 each.

thanks. I also called Ames, they said GP 17inch not available. My originals are 17inch.

They are actually 17.5"

Olds Starfire would be the same. maybe the Fusic catalog?

I bought the Trico Classic 33-150 blades. The appearance and fit is identical to the original blades. I can't recall if I got them from Rock Auto or off Amazon.

Those are great looking blades but are 15" long. For some reason they don't make 17" models that look like that. I am a little puzzled that a GP would take different blades than all the other 65-66 full size Pontiacs? Is the windshield taller or have other differences? Do all GP's those years go back to using the parallel style wiper system rather than the articulating style of the other full size cars? Just seems a little weird. Always trying to learn new things. I saw a couple sets of 17" blades on E-bay for crazy prices like $300.00 for a used pair. That's nuts !

thanks for help, these are the strangest design I have seen, they have 2 arms from the post to the end where the blades attach and a very strange looking attachment head that connects both arms to the blade . i looked at all recommended one s to try , but come up with nothing. even if I went with 15 inch( which would be less effective and unsightly on this big old beast), the head attachment on the trico is different from mine and appears it would not fit.

Std wiper blades for 1966 GP are the 15" TRICO 33-150.
With overlap 2-speed wipers use the 18" TRICO 33-183.

That should be good information for him. So his car has the overlapping 2-speed wipers. Pontiac called the articulating wiper arms. Sounds like the 18" blades will work. I would like to see a pic or 2 of the attachment situation which is the last part of the puzzle.

I can send photos, but do not know how to do it on this site, help.

Scroll down below where you type in your replies to attachments. Then you can choose the pics to post. They are very specific about which file extensions you can post and file size. No high resolution stuff will post. Download and post. 5 pic maximum. You have to do them 1 at a time. Not the most user friendly site for pics.

OK, finally got off my lazy butt and got the 66 factory service manual out. Mystery solved. Those wiper blades are NOT serviceable. They are serviced by refills only. Almost no manufacturer makes refills anymore, but there are some out there. They don't list the size you need but I am guessing 17, 17.5 or 18" Measure an old one if it's still in there. If the arm, articulating joint or link are damaged, you need the whole arm assembly. Franks Pontiac parts would be a good source. Steve Barcaks Pontiac Heaven would be another. Pontiac built over 500,000 cars in 1966 that used those arms. You should be able to find them if needed. Hope this helps.

These refills should work. You could shorten them if necessary.

Right, I forgot. My car is a Grande Parisienne (Canadian) and has the same setup as your 1 speed wiper cars in the US. Your 2 speed wiper cars use a different length. I'm sorry for confusing the issue.

thanks so much to all Pontiac friends, I ordered the 18 inch refills from classic ind and after a challenging installation following your helpful instructions, I now have new wipers and they look and perform perfectly, so grateful to all.
thanks Allan
