1963 Grand Prix - Brake lights staying on all the time...
Hello everyone..
I have an electrical problem on my 1963 grand prix. The battery on my car was going dead after a few hours if left it connected so I always disconnected with a battery quick disconnect pole adapter, a few days ago I noticed that my brake lights were on all the time, so I replaced the original brake light switch on the brake pedal that did not fix it... I tested both cables to the stitch have ground signal.. Any ideas what to test next? Has anyone had this problem? Thank you and have a great week! |
Is there power on both sides of the switch with the button fully depressed?

Thank you SteveP
No power on either one both are ground, it may have been like that since I bought the car... just started driving it a couple of months ago after fixing everything. Maybe I have the wrong cables connected to the switch |
If 1963 is the same as 1964 there are 2 single WHITE plugs. One has a PURPLE wire and one has a WHITE wire.

Thanks again |
Is it actually brake light, bright light?
Or tail light? What happens when brake pedal is pushed? Turn signal on? Take a brake light bulb out then both and see what happens? Also take the stop light fuse out and see what happens? |
