June 70 Spoiler has stuff rolling around inside it.
 

So I mounted my original spoiler today and noticed some hard bits rolling around inside it. I assume its old bits of adhesive from the three underside panels. It's a bit embarrassing so was wondering if anyone knows of a good easy fix for this or if I'll have to remove the panels to clean it all out?:confused:

You don't want to separate the big parts if you don't have to. I had to repair a spoiler years ago that the pedestals had been broken off & the upper / lower sections had separated. IIRC there are several internal ribs running front to back to help strengthen the flat panels.

You could drill a small hole (maybe 3/8"-1/2" ?) in a hidden location underneath towards one end & then try your luck at trying to shake them out of that hole. If they do come out repairing the small hole shouldn't be a bad job. Good luck!

Shiny, I noticed it while man handling it and you can hear some when opening the trunk.

Steve V, that's not a bad idea. Do you remember if the insides are open between each section or do the pedestals separate them? Just wondering if one 3/8 hole at one end of the spoiler would do it or if I would have to drill into each panel...

It is open, the bottom part is one piece with indentations where the pedestals bolt to it from the inside.

Maybe a stud finder could locate the internal ribs and guide and help you isolate the noise to a single internal cavity???

Drilling sounds painful but I understand why you want the noise gone.

The stud finder sounds like a good idea so I'll try that. I guess it's not the end of the world if I leave it but the car is going in for paint soon so now would be the time to deal with it.

Steve V, so if understand correctly, I should be able to stand this spoiler on one end, shake it a bunch and these bit should all go to the lower end? Then I can just drill the hole and it should mostly all come out, correct??

Yes, that should do it. The internal ribs were on the upper part of IIRC.

I have pictures of the spoiler in pieces but I think they're on an old computer that I've lost the password to. :(
