HEAD LITE SWITCH KNOB PROBLEM
The light switch chrome knob came off and when I tried to put back on it would
no stay ,locked on, when I pull the to turn on the headlites on the knob comes off. DOES ANYONE HAVE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. THANK JJS |
If it's like the GTO switch the knob has a stem. It is released by having it in headlight on position while pushing the 1/4" button on the side of the switch behind the dash. To replace just push the new one in.

Is the knob pulling off of the stem?
|
Don’t pull so hard.
Prob need a ned knob |
Yes how is it attached to the stem? there is a clip on the stem but the knob won't stay attached, any suggestions??
Thanks JJS |
Epoxy.
|
Just get a nos one.
|
I bought a new nob but still
Didn’t help. I just glued it as suggested. Problem solved. |
Remove the clip from the stem and install it in the plastic knob. Then push it on the stem. You're probably not getting the clip in the knob if it's still on the stem.

Got tired of scrapping the my hands fingers trying to press and release the stem from the light switch dimmer just to remove the dash. I drilled a small hole in the knob and put a small set screw ,made from another fine threaded screw shank. Filed a small notch in the stem for screw to sit in. works great and Case closed!

BTW, I bought the Ames replacement knob with stud. Seems that rod is a half inch too short resulting in parking lights stay on with knob pushed in fully!
