TKX and 7109 pilot bearing
 

Ok, to keep my string of stupid questions going for this year, i had the 6202 chevy bearing in for the longest time, so since im getting the motor redone, i thought i would use the right bearing. The bearing i have is new but doesnt seem to have any grease in it, so would i fill it up with grease as in the picture.

I take it the bearing goes in like i have it on the pic, so if your looking at the crank your seeing the sealed end, reason i ask, is i see some posts about flinging grease on your clutch and flywheel, if put in the way i have pictured how is grease flying out of the shield.

I have some red and tacky grease, ok to use and fill up about as much as in the pic.

Scott, thanks for that pic, at least i have that right...........did a search on should you grease or not to grease the pilot bearing, on the bearing i bought i cant see any grease on it, i was thinking of using just a little of that super lube synthetic grease i have laying around and just put a little on the bearings, problem is in the pic of the one i sent that is from summits site pic, looks to be plenty of grease in it...........now im wondering if that is too much. lol

Think i"ll just get another bearing and see

I've never seen or ever had a problem slinging grease on the clutch or flywheel. The bronze bushings have no seal what so ever so there's that.
Sounds to me if people are complaining they are probably over doing it

Technically just needs a dab of grease. If you think about it the only time the input shaft isnt spinning in unison with the flywheel is when the clutch is pushed in. Otherwise the input is locked 1 to 1 with the flywheel and there is no spinning of the pilot bushing going on. So unless you're sitting there for an endless amount of time with the clutch pushed in this really isn't something concerning

Bearings come with 1, 2 & none sealed races. I use the 1 side sealed and pack it with grease putting the sealed race out.
