Wiring from org. starter to mini starter Pontiac 400
2 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
I'm currently swapping the old starter for a Load Boss mini starter. I'm having a question about the wiring. Both have the big connection for main power from the battery but the mini starter only has 1 smaller connection. Which has to be the trigger wire. So, I put the 2 big cables on the bigger connector. The small red wire on the trigger connection but where does the brown, most left small wire go and what does it do? Also, there's a small cable coming from the blue plastic wrap thingie on the mini starter.. Anyone knows what that's for? |
The "left small wire" is the circuit that bypasses the "ballast resistor" between 12v "ign" and coil + when the starter is engaged. Unless you are using points-type ignition, you don't need either the ballast resistor or the bypass circuit.
