Dash Speaker
3 Attachment(s)
I have a Delco am/fm mono radio and console mounted 8 track player for my 71 GTO and I am going to need to replace the front dash speaker. I have a nos speaker but it has 2 wires coming from it instead of just 1 like the factory speaker. My original speaker has a plug coming from the 1 wire and that plugs into the back of my radio. The new speaker has the harness in the picture that plugs on to the 2 prongs coming from the speaker. I am assuming one wire will take the place of the wire that goes to my radio and the other may be a ground? Am I correct?

Just to follow up in case anyone else has this question, one has to be grounded.

John,i just pulled my dash and i have only one wire to that speaker. the speaker has 2 terminals. Mono 1 speaker factory am/fm factory replacement speaker with no ground. i wonder why mine isnt supposed to be grounded? it still works just fine.

OE were grounded to the frame of speaker (look closely at the wires coming from the cone to the connection). I had to ground one side and made a replacement for the radio when I replaced with a S&M Electro Tech Unfortunately, Firebird is shaped backwards to the repro. wiring and I had to add a little length to that wire.

Yep, just looked closer, and it's grounded to the frame. and that's the replacement i got S&M Electro Tech. Thank you for clarifying.
