57 3 speed trans swap
 

Hello, I am thinking about swapping out a 57 3 speed standard trans, with a later 3 or 4 speed are the bolt patterns the same for both? I only have knowledge of late 60s Bell housing. Thanks

No, you need a 58-60 bellhousing. 58 & 59 have provisions for rear engine mounts, although the mount details are somewhat unlike the 57 mounts,
Truth is, I once did modify a '57 housing to the later trans pattern. But it was a nasty job and an ugly result!

As Jack said, you need a 58-60 bell housing. You also need a 56 (Strato-Flight Hydramatic only) or 57 Hydramatic cross member for attaching motor mounts. The motor mounts can be quite easily adapted from the bell housing to that cross member.
