068 hydraulic roller camshaft

Roller and budget are not really synonymous.

Butler lists both the 068 and 744 available as HR.

We are using, and very happy with, the Voodoo -711 HR. Duration falls between the 068 and 744, but the lift does exceed your 0.500 specification.

Roller cams are not cheap, about $500 for the cam and $700 and up for the lifters plus changing springs, retainers and locks if converting from HFT. You’ll also need a new distributor gear and potential valley pan due to the link bars contacting the pans, about $350 added to the numbers above.

You’re better off with a flat tappet cam in a factory grind, quality lifters, matched springs and doing proper break in.

I have a nitraded Crower 60919 for sale, nitrading the cam is your best bet on any HFT cam along with a great set of lifters such as the Crower cam saver lifters that have a machined area that allows more oil to the cam. It’s the next step up from the 744 so may not work for your build but look for something similar for your build and you’ll have the best chance of success with a flat tappet cam.
