69 Rally 2 Trim Ring Measurements
 

I'm looking for a set of original 69 Rally 2 trim rings. Could someone please provide the key measurements - outer, inner, depth and any other that may be critical to determining if correct OEM.

I assume you are talking about the trim rings used on the correct 14x6" wheels?

Yes, as originally equiped

I'll take few pics with a tape measure and post them tomorrow.

Here is a trim ring on a survivor GTO, as far as I can tell they are factory original and many of my cars with 14x6" rally's have the identical design rings. I seem to recall there was a change from brushed to polished or vice versa at some point. All mine are the polished variety like this one.

Here is one installed, different car but identical trim ring.

69 14x6 trim rings were same as rallyI and early rallyII
part# 9781480.
they were brushed finish and have 4 retainer clips that grip outside lip of wheel,
unlike those pictured here that grip inside of bead lip.
Keep in mind 69 also had a 7 inch wheel.

My early 69 (sept 68 build) had the brushed rings but all my current GTO's and a LeMans (all are built later in the year) have the polished rings and all are survivor cars.

The applications for the 7" wheels in 69 are:

Firebird-all models except base engine 1bbl OHC and even with that engine if F series tire option was ordered. (base engine cars had E series tires)
Grand Prix: all models except if equipped with manual steering (Power steering was made standard on the GP on jan 1st 69 IIRC.

Hmm, I didn't notice this at first because I was focused on the measurements but it's my understanding a 69 should have the 4 clip style of trim ring and be polished. My car is a May 69 BTW. Are the measurements any different between the two styles?
