Have your girlfriend talk to it seductively and see if it expands. Just kidding, yeah the newer fuel hoses that resist ethanol do some weird stuff, generally single use.

Some FI hose can be a rip off.
There sold more by there rating to handle pressure then dealing with engine temps and the fuel that runs through them. I always wipe a on a film of synthetic wheel bearing lube on nipples d before I slip a hose one. They then come apart with far less force and cure words being heard. |
HOSE on the pressure side of the fuel pump is not a good practice. Sometimes it's unavoidable, but then you use the minimum amount of hose that will allow for engine shake--eight inches, give-or-take.
Metal tubing--double-wall seamless steel is ultra common. Nickle-copper "NiCopp" tube works well. There's hard-plastic tubing used by the OEMs that has good results. But hose? Not if I can help it, and if I must, it's the steel-braid-over-Teflon (PTFE) liner stuff. |
