Battery terminal orientation on a '65 Bonneville

Hi! Does anyone know if the negative battery terminal on a '65 Bonneville faces the fender or the engine? In other words, is it on the left or the right when viewed from the front? I’ve seen it both ways; the split seems to be fifty-fifty. Thanks! Nils

I would think they were always negative nearest to the engine so the negative cable would go right to a Bolton the front of the head to maybe to some bolt on an accessory bracket. The positive would then run along the inner fender. I suppose a 65 might get a group 24 battery and not the group 24F.. The terminals are reversed between those groups.

Yes, positive cable next to the fender

My 65 GP has the positive near the fender too. There is a short red wire that goes to the horn relay on the fender behind the battery. I think that is stock. I know that wire would not reach the engine side of the battery.
