I had trouble with the bolt being too long and...

I had trouble with the bolt being too long and hitting the upper ball joint, so I flipped the bolt and the threads are now pointing down. Maybe this will help?

any wider on the front will be a problem as I have to be careful when turning into a driveway (for my car anyways)

just used Rustoleum ?? I think. the silver is easy, but I find that the grey can't be too dark, or they don't look right (to me) It was just an off the shelf automotive paint, not sure of name/code?...

Here are mine, sandblasted and epoxy primed (white) ,
then sprayed silver
the masked and sprayed grey
than a satin clear coat

a friend of mine made me some custom inserts for my Rally 2s (for my 58 wagon project)

I may add some clear epoxy resin to coat them with for a smooth glossy finish
