Boosters are the same for disc or drum. It's the master cylinder that will need to be changed. Don't forget about the brake lines to the master cylinder too!
I'd recommend getting a new reproductions instead of one from a parts store if underhood appearance is important to your dad. I bought one from a parts store a few months ago and it looked horrible. It was sprayed cast iron grey and had rust pits all over it. Granted, a reproduction will run you at least $100 more than a part store booster but you get what you pay for.
