I was wondering when someone would bring up convertibles. Snell 98 or newer helmet NOT required in the 14's for conv. or T-tops. There are a few rules pertaining to convertibles. The rules you quote here are probably track rules for conv. and T-tops because these rules are hard to find in the book, but they are readily available on the last page of NHRA rulebook on the quick reference chart found there. Local NHRA tracks may make their own rules for safer operation than the rulebook requires. What they can't do is make rules below NHRA miniums... ie. No helmet when racing, for an example. When NHRA would find this out the track would lose their NHRA member track status...Safety 1st..
