Sure it would help quite a bit.Optimizing the torque converter to the engine parameters makes a world of difference in the performance of the car.With the same amount of torque and hp from the engine,there is a large difference in ET with the wrong converter setup.
The problem with most dynos are that they are basically steady state.They hold steady at a certain rpm range,take a reading then go to next.
With the tranny hooked up you would basically be bypassing the converter at a steady reading.
Thereby negating the torgue multiplication of the converter.
