Also may want to make sure your connections are all tight and clean. A loose or corroded connection can have power and then when you try to crank it will lose the connection altogether. Check ground cable on the block for good tight connection and again on starter. Also i posted a wiring diagram in this section for 70 gtos, maybe this can help you out some. Here is the link:
