Half-Inch Stud..........That was my though exactly about the main caps "waving" out of phase. The only way anything would move is if they all waved together and I don't think that will happen, since they are all loaded differently at different times in the cycle. As far as the mains, this piece is 1/2 inch thick and supports across the top of the main caps. Wouldn't that offer support to the mains for better bearing life by keeping them round ?
Wouldn't a front plate and mid plate be effective in supporting the block from slitting ? Would a full 5 main girdle tied to the entire pan rail, similar to Steve Barrack's setup, be effective in supporting the block ?
