It's really amazing what people cover up with bondo and paint. I have a 65 convertible that someone really got creative on. I knew the passenger quarter had been worked because of the bondo cracks but I had no idea how bad it really was. Turns out someone had cut a huge hole in the quarter (14" x 21") and then they "shaped" and riveted an old seal kist ice cream sign onto the quarter. As if that wasn't enough, they used GALLONS of bondo to "make it pretty". I have a chunk of Bondo from that car that is an inch and a half thick. Impressive huh?
As for my 70 GTO, the powder coater came through with some cash and everything is working out ok. I made some mistakes on this car and I hope others won't make the same mistakes I did.
