Grrrrs' car is the only '78 GP stick I've ever heard of. I'd be willing to bet it was one of less than half dozen built, stripped down like that. Probably 200-300 total manuals built that year, based on over 200,000 units sold.
I wish I still had it It was definately a factory stick car. The trans was not original (yellow paint stick markings on it), but everything else appeared original. The car had manual brakes when I bought it & I converted it to power. I had to modify the brake pedal to accept the booster assy. That was about 20 yrs ago. I still have the column & pedals out of it, though. I parted the car & sold the shell. It was then used a a dirt track car.

I knew a guy back when I had mine that has a '79 SJ with a 301 4 spd. His mother bought it new. Last I saw it (about 15 yrs ago) it was pretty hammered. I heard he was restoring it, but I wouldn't even know how to get a hold of him. I'd love to find it.

By the way...I saw one regal ('78-80 style) in a salvage yard. They wouldn't sell me any parts off of it.
